Had Enough

Had enough of Land Rover my L405 Autobiography it has of been the road with my local dealer for over 4 months waiting for a part. Have we really returned to the days of British Leyland.
This it their top of the range vehicle their customer care is diabolical utterly shocked by their approach to offering any solution other than to tell me they are trying their best.
Giving a lot of thought as to getting rid of it and buying German.
This is my second Range Rover and I think it will definitely be my last.

Looking back at your posts, it appears this may relate to your suspension hydraulic pump?

At the end of the day, it's a 10 year old complex 4x4. It doesn't matter which brand you buy, things will wear out and fail. They have 3x as many ECUs and probably just as many additional parts.

Find the part number and call Duckworths to see if it's available? If it's on back order, there's not much that can be done other than going to an independent and getting an aftermarket or recon part fitted. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

its sad to read but im not shocked by it , JLR on whole has let their customers down on both the customer service and more importantly the quality of the products they sell . . . . .

I don’t believe that it’s unique to JLR. I have a Mercedes SL55 (okay it’s 20 years old but that’s not that old), and a whole bunch of parts are nla, and I am talking about crucial parts. It’s also a very complex car and I’ve thought about getting rid of it in case something breaks that I cannot replace.

I think it’s the automotive industry in general.

I think that says it all then - not the main dealer, but there's no production run currently being done on the part. Not much the dealer can do.

The choice is to wait, or have the vehicle moved to an independent, who can fit a used, aftermarket or recon part. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

You generally only hear these stories about main dealers.

As you know the part involved, I suggest you try ringing round local marque specialists. A good one may have an acceptable solution. They can pick your car up and have it back to you in a day or two. Des

Buy a used part or keep waiting, seems to be the current answer. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green

Asm at Thame were recently advising they have 10 million pounds of JLR products from insurance company.
Presume the flooded Derbyshire dealers?
Would they have the right thing?

Correct, it wouldn’t have just been new stock either as many customers cars were affected.

As already mentioned it's a fairly old and very complex car.

sadly, the main dealers are not as good as they should be.

Find an independent who can source (or maybe even repair) the part and get your car back on the road.

Unfortunately, your car seems to imitating the Flying Moneypit.

If it’s just a parts supply problem, it’s going to be potentially the same for anything German too.

The use of used, re-manufactured or parts that match from other cars (I.e. part is shared across many brands) is a necessity with an older vehicle.

I have a Mercedes CL500 and the media screen failed. Even if I had been able to source through a main dealer (which of course I didn’t bother) it would have been very expensive - I bought a used part from a specialist Mercedes breaker and it got fixed for under £150.

It’s simply a reality of owning a car that is 10+ years old.

I shop for parts between the main dealer, euro large websites and local motor factors. The main dealer has been out of oparts probably 50% or more and they cannot get them from the UK stores due to the merging of the parts warehouse there. As an owner of 2 older JLR cars I just accept it as I do most of my own repairs but when talking to the parts manager he explains how he has cars sitting there for weeks and weeks waiting for a single small part.

On once occasion I joked that many parts of the older cars are shared with other brands. He perked up and asked for more info. I explained that I bought my oil pump for the disco of Citroen as it was half the price and the same part from Ford. He asked me for the part number as he had a Disco 3 waiting on an oil pumps for ages. I feel bad for the garages and the customers as it is not either of their fault.

Like others say, Id be trying to source the part from a good parts yard and do a deal with the main dealer if its a warranty job. If not remove it and get it done at an indo.

Best of luck with it. Current yokes
