Looking at replacing my front suspension struts and I've come across the refurbished ones on eBay. Has anyone got any experience with them as they're half the price of new and still come with a 2 year warranty.

Yes mate those are the ones, a big difference between them and buying new so wondered if anyone had any experience with them

You are looking at an eBay seller who does everything to hide who/what/where they are.

I've investigated this seller and found that they are a trading name of CHONGQING HUIMENG KEJI YOUXIANGONGSI. The part comes from China and you will be charged import taxes when it arrives by courier. If something is wrong, you can sing for customer service. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

The Chinese usually ship stuff like that duty paid, so you shouldn't pay any duty.

There is nothing inherently wrong with Chinese parts. Your iPhone is made there.

As long as it's a reputable Chinese company and export goods you can be assured of high quality, they pretty much make anything that goes into every car built today globally under contract for export and there is nothing wrong with it whatever you may think. If you say different then you don't know what your talking about.

Less so with goods made in China for the domestic market though as they are built to less stringent specifications.

I used to be based in Beijing and regularly visit the factories in Tianjin and Shenzhen to test commercial cellular transciever warranty returns and the testing processes of the factory, rarely would I find anything amiss, we had way more problems with the factory in the UK.

But, as with buying anything from EBAY, you pay your money and take your choice. A lot of fakes out there and not all come from China.

You can buy refurb / nearly new OEM parts from Europe of course, but we all know where they come from.

I put a pair of Aerosus struts on the front of mine and they were a lot cheaper than OE but not dirt cheap. Didn't check their place of origin but so far they are working well. They may not last 170k miles like the OE ones but will last long enough. I couldn't realy justify spending 20% of the cars value on 2 front struts esp as I also did the rears as well ( OE for those). At first I couldn't realy tell much difference apart from a slightly firmer ride at slow speed but now I've done more twisty country roads I can realy tell how the body control is way better going through bends. It is like a new car....
Just looked at the Aerosus website and the price has gone up and they are out of stock  2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
