I am in Western Australia with a 3.6, a very hot climate and have been using 10w 40 since getting the car 3 years ago. If you are in a cold climate I would stick with 5w 30. The 10w 40 is specified for very hot climates. I presume the only drawback is a small increase in fuel use. My oil changes are every 6 months at around 6000km so the cheaper cost of the 10w 40 is a plus 2007 TDV8 VSE

What is considered a cold climate nowadays😎
Minus 10C is very rare, global warming and all.

For me it is the ease, i have 60 liter can of 10w40 for my other cars. Not afraid to buy 5w30 if that is considered a must.
