I believe it was the ‘perfect blend’ with the power of a TDV8 but the economy of a SCV8 and the reason they sold so few.
It is generally considered the ‘wrong’ engine for a FFRR and is far better suited to a F-Type which is where it originated from.
In the real world though, I wonder how much the mpg figures and performance actually become far closer to each other. The trouble is there were so few SCV6 sold there is little anecdotal feedback.
If there was a perfect in every way FFRR that I wanted but it had the SCV6 rather than one of the other engines, I would still buy it over a TDV8 or SCV8 that wasn’t perfect.
