Rusty Tow Bar

HI guys

Quick one - my new to me 405 has the deployable tow bar, which appears to never have been used by the previous owners.

The actual bar and ball itself is rusty, is it a problem (surface rust only), and is it possible to remove just the bar in order to be able to clean up and paint?
