Iphone and In Control

Can anyone help with this?
I have a 2016 model L405 and the MD kindly set me up on the Land Rover App, except it's not called InControl anymore, it's called LR Remote.
The App works fine on my Iphone and I can see where the car is and lock/unlock remotely etc

When I connect the Iphone to the car, I get the message in the photo below "InControl Apps is not available"

Do I need to somehow update the App in the car? I installed a SIM card in the hope that it would help but it didn't. Any ideas

I have to say that the media software in the RR seems a bit antiquated. I sort of expected it but still seems like a backward step for what is supposed to be a high end car. Happily it's beautiful to drive

Hi Kev,

They are 2 different apps I believe.

LR Remote allows you check where you car is and turn on/off park heating, close/open windows etc etc.

InControl allows you run certain apps, loaded on your phone via the in car screen/system. Its a. bit limited and is a sort of precursor to Apple CarPlay (but not a very good one...) - I also think it was due to be decommissioned, may already have been... Ash

The dealer said that LR Remote App is the updated version on InControl
I don't think InControl is on the App Store anymore. That was why I wondered if I need to update the software in the car
Anybody else had the same issue?

I wouldn’t worry too much. There was an app called variously “InControl Apps” “Apps” and “My Vehicle Apps” which was a platform for a small range of basically rubbish apps.

Support for it was discontinued by LR on 31/12/23 and I don’t think it works any more (I found it so useless I haven’t honesty tried since then).

The LR Remote app on the other hand still works perfectly for remote checking of locking / alarm status, remote starting of car heater, service mileage check etc.

I believe all this stuff changed for roughly MY17 onwards so it’s possible that your dealer doesn’t know his FF history 2016 SDV8 AB

That sort of fits with what I've found. So in summary, LR are great at making cars but not so good on multi media
Maybe I'll look at getting an aftermarket upgrade screen but that seems quite complicated too

I’ve been looking for an upgrade screen for ages but haven’t seen anything that doesn’t have some kind of drawback.

Now given up looking as I’ve found what I think is an excellent iPhone holder which sits between the car’s touchscreen and the steering wheel making it very easy to access.
