Distant WW2 bomber nosediving sound from engine | |
Hello all,
I recently purchased a 2018 Range Rover Vogue 5L V8 Supercharged from an authorised dealer.
It had a brand new engine installed by them.
I believe the old engine failed due to the infamous water pump problem (I could see in its service history there was a water pump replacement a few months before it went for an engine replacement).
Anyway...this is my first time driving a supercharged car so I'm not sure if the following sound is normal...
When around 1000 RPM, the engine has a low humming noise. it sounds (as the title says) like a WW2 bomber plane nosediving in the distance.
It's a little audible in Neutral but much more obvious when the car is in Drive.
Once the car picks up speed it either gets drowned out by the normal engine sound or stops - i can't tell which.
is this normal? Should I have the dealership take a look?
I hate taking things like a weird sound to the garage as I feel they always try their best to not hear it and dismiss my concern.
