Ongoing Forward Alert Error on L322 3.6 TDV8

Hi everyone,

For the past year, I've been dealing with a persistent Forward Alert error on my L322 3.6 TDV8. While it doesn't affect the vehicle's performance, it's quite annoying to have to reset it every time I drive.

I recently took it to a Land Rover specialist garage in Hampshire, hoping to have the issue diagnosed and fixed. Unfortunately, despite addressing other repairs (which cost £2.5k), they weren't able to pinpoint the cause of the Forward Alert error.

Interestingly, around the same time the error started, the parking sensors (both front and rear) also stopped functioning. They don't seem to detect objects at all, regardless of proximity.

Could a malfunctioning sensor be causing issues with both the Forward Alert system and the cruise control (which also stopped working)?

My question is this: Could a faulty sensor be causing problems with all three systems (Forward Alert, parking sensors, and cruise control)?

If the issue requires removing the bumper and replacing sensors, what's a ballpark cost estimate for this repair at a garage? or given my limited experience with car mechanics, is this a DIY project I should even consider?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ben Happy Days..

I would give it a clean…mine occasionally gives me blocked forward alert, and it could be leaves / snow / mud.

In my experience, yes.

On my 5.0 S/C when one of the rear height sensors errored it would throw off the ACC & Forward Alert and cause them to show errors as well.

Replaced the sensor and it never happened again!
