How Much ZF8 Do I Need To Replace The ZF8 Transmission Pan ?

Hi, wrt 2012 TDV8 8 Speed.

I've tried searching for this but I've not found a definitive answer. Gearbox megaflush was done about 4 months ago but I've noticed some weeping from the gearbox sump joint.

I'm going to drop the sump and replace, but how much ZF8 fluid will I lose ? I suspect 4 to 7 litres, and I'll buy what I need to offset what will drop but it's unclear how much will actually drop by removing the sump.

Stuff is expensive so I don't want to buy more than I'll really need.

Cheers

Each time I’ve done mine it’s taken 4 and a bit litres

Is it worth trying to nip up all the sump bolts to the correct torque first?
I'd individualy undo each one a 1/4 turn then up to torque, clean the damp area and see what happens. Thumbs Up

Hi, Yes I did drop the cover shield and retorque all the bolts but it still seems still to be weeping from the rear edge centre, but I didn't back them off first.

I'll give that a go, thanks for that, if it persists I may just drop, clean & refit before replacing and I'll get 5l of Zf8.

The standard service just involves replacing the pan and refilling what drains out so a service kit will contain the right quantity of fluid. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
