InControl Remote status after 3G sunsetting.

With 3G being sunset, and 2G on its way out, I wanted to see whether InControl Remote is still working for USA based Rovers? I am looking at a 2017 ATB and Remote Start is a feature I was looking forward to having.

It will continue to work on 2G, but it looks like when that is retired it is game-over Censored

To answer my own question, it looks like the Remote app is still fully functional for 2017MY cars. Unclear whether it's using 2G or 3G in my area, but it works.

I've just joined the forum to ask almost the same question !

I've just bought a 2017 and received the subscription renewal offer including the tracker ("INCONTROL REMOTE & SECURE"). The price is very reasonable for a tracker but does it rely on 3G ? 2G ? Something else ?

They offer a 12 month or 24 month subscription, if it needs 3G and they know full well that's being shut down quite soon it's very naughty of them to offer to take my money for 24 months' support !

In in the UK, btw.

I read these posts last night and also felt the same as you so I emailed Head Office and received this response earlier:

Thank you for your email dated 24/05/2024. Due to my role within the business, I am empowered to respond to any emails for Adrian Mardell's attention.

I can confirm that there will be no impact to your vehicle when 3G is switched off, all services will remain operational and nothing will be shutdown.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me as I would be more than happy to assist wherever possible.

Thanks - although your car is a 2019 and AFAIK that means it already has 4G to start with so losing 3G is not a big deal.
