There is a cable with 2 ends to it, each end has a similar fitting, one is connected in what appears to be a sensor unit in the air intake, the other end is connected to nothing. Is this normal? my guess is that maybe they are optional connectors for some function or other, but I dont know what. Any ideas? No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

I also have that on mine. My guess is LR fit a standard loom to all models and some of the plugs are for different models

Thanks for that (rapid) reply. Nice to know it hasn't fallen off something. I guessed it may be for something as you suggest, maybe a different climate or region etc. Don't know if it's a good idea to have it uncovered and exposed though, would have thought it would be best to have a blank or something.

mines got no cover and its been like that since i got mine last year ..

L/R have as suggested like most manufacturers now fitted standard looms to their vehicles, so that makes life easier for them.

on the disco only the top spec models used to come with cruise control as standard, but a trip to ebay and a few quid later you have bought the steering wheel buttons for the cruise control.

half an hour later they are fitted as all the wires are there...bobs your uncle you now have cruise control.

Mmmm - you're chicken... Afraid of the retrofit loom.

Seriously, helped a freind retrofit nav last week. Took all of 4 hrs. (surprised both of us). Got another restrofit kit going to a guy in Frankfurt this week.

With the proper components and the retrofit loom, it's dead easy. If you want it, do it.
