Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

The wheels, great, the tyres not so much.

Not sure whether it's the high profile or just the tread pattern & all season compound but they seem to slither & slide around a bit more that I like in the wet to the point where the ABS is cutting in surprisingly early under heavy wet braking in town, I guess diesel soaked roads..

So much so that I've sold the tyres and gone back to the 255/50 Grabber GTs which are like rail tracks, no wavering, no sliding and supremely comfortable.

Others have their own opinions about the Pirellis, but I think had they been the version with the foam inserts to cut roadnoise I may have stuck with them, but all things considered and combined with the fact we had little of a winter here in the southwest I think the summer tyres are better for me, I do go off road and the GTs cope well up to a point, light off road duties, towing horseboxes across fields & muddy tracks etc.

I thought that may be the case. I do think the rims suit the L322 and may be worth a go just for them alone.
I was under the assumption all these factory defender pirelli’s had the foam inserts?

I like the wheels I've got on, and the five spoke design really pops as you see yourself driving by a plate glass shop window, they contrast well with the white body and much easier to keep clean than the standard Westminster alloys which were terrbily labourious to keep clean.

There is a but however.

Diamond cut alloys are notoriously susceptible to capillary corrosion where water gets under the laquer and spreads quite easily so I'll have to keep them well waxed and an eye on any chips.

Am still a happy bunny because the wheels & tyres combo was quite cheap, I offloaded the tyres considering what they went for the wheels actually only cost me £200 for the 4 brand new. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Sorry, forgot to add. The quiet versions have PNCS stamped on them, I thought the same as you, but seems not, mine only had the LR dot but not the PNCS.

I don't know whether it's a cost option or whether you get what they have in stock at the build time or how they're issued.

To be honest I have always had a bit of a hatred for diamond cut for this reason, as well as them looking a bit cheap and overdone. They do look correct in this instance though.

I'm trying to weigh up wether I can stick with the tyres or not, and if the size is just a bit too far. Just over £600 for a set of 5 unused seems like it's worth a punt to me though.

It's weird in that you can pick up a brand new set of wheels and tyres for less than you can buy just the tyres.

I'm thinking of getting a second set as a spare so if a wheel gets damaged just replace it. Much cheaper than having the original one refinnished. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Have you got IID? Wonder what it's like if you let all the air out the bags, could you drive on the bumpstops if there was a problem?

I don't know but another forum member mentioend that he had a bag go and his were rubbing, but i can't recall the exact size or type of his tyres.

I didn't try it and now I've moved on so I can't say if it would be ok.

Some others with the same tyre size 255/60 x 20 may be able to tell you.

Looking good.
Im looking at getting a set of AT3s in 255/65/19s on my black one effectively the same size and was just unsure of clearance issues before i spend out.
if the only problem is a little rubbing on the drivers front i can live with that Thumbs Up

will you be able to move the car if an airbag goes?

My 255/55 R20 rubbed the arch lining when a front airbag leaked and it dropped to the bumpstops but it was still drivable very slowly but 255/65 R19 are even bigger so you may not be able to move it at all? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
