ELM 327

Hey gang! I’ve been trying to review the fault codes stored in my cars memory by downloading an app called ‘Torque Pro’ and using an ELM 327 obd2 Bluetooth reader… Unfortunately it’s not working and I’m not sure why? For some reason the reader doesn’t appear in the Bluetooth devices on my phone, but the red power light is on (see pic, please ignore my ugly mug in the background). I thought it was broken, so bought another one, only to have the same thing happen again…?!? Has anyone else tried this or similar? Did it work? Am I missing something fundamental? Thanks..

Iirc you start pairing through the app, and the ignition needs to be on.

ELM 327 are cheap £5 OBD readers. Even once you've got it working, it can't scan deep enough to be of value on vehicles this complex and will report no codes when in fact there might be - sending you down wrong paths. Fine on something like a Ford or a Peugeot, but not something with 20+ ECUs.

You'll need something like an iCarSoft as a minimum. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I heard somewhere that there were a few fake ELM327 about.

I use https://www.autelstore.co.uk/wholesale/aut...gL-cfD_BwE

It reads and clears codes read the blurb Thumbs Up 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
