Following the excellent advice on the forum and also from Sam’s motor and machines, I have identified and repaired the culprit wires as shown.

Thanks Rich - that makes sense as mine are not illuminated and therefore I suspect the plug is not required. I don’t recall disconnecting it and can’t see where it might go.
The only reason I’m chasing it down is I now have IID Tool errors with invalid data received from ABS Control Module and wondered whether my attempted fix had inadvertently caused another problem.
