aerosus on an 2005 4.2 SC

Hi all,

I am looking to replace my front bags and struts as one has a leak. I have seen on Advanced Factors, and other sites that there is a specific strut for the 4.2 and later models.

On Aerosus they only seem to have one option.

I called and they said it was compatible but wonder if anyone on here have used them on an early 4.2SC?

Do top mounts just need swapping over?

Am I better off spending the extra and getting OEM from somewhere?

Nice one. I ended up ordering some OEM stuff and spare bolts. Just gotta find the time to fit it all now! 😄

I went OEM (BWI) from Advanced Factors, fitment straightforward and quick delivery. All good a few thousand miles later. ---------------------------------------

Doesn't need much time with the right tools. I did mine in less than an hour per side and that included dealing with the CVD wires which yours doesn't have. My tips;
Jack the whole front to equalise load on the ARB. If you can only do one side turn the wheel and undo the ARB bolt before jacking that side. An impact driver is a must for removing the lower nuts and bolts and don't think you can just use on a big breaker bar. Propane torch in reserve if you need to heat the knuckle to extract rusted bolts. Remember the ABS cable routing as it's easy to get this wrong when putting the new strut on. If you are working alone use a small jack to raise the hub to position the top bolts rather than trying to lift with one arm and reach over with the other. Mark the 2 outer bolt positions with felt tip as these are slotted / adjustable for camber. You don't need to deflate the system as you can slowly release the air from the connection to the top of the strut. You will need a very short 12mm spanner to do this ( cut an old one down) also you will need 16 and 18mm sockets and spanners which some sets don't have. I reused the airline fasteners and found reataching them fiddly and I wasn't confident I had got a good seal until a few days later when the car had been stood and not dropped. Good luck but it's quite an easy job apart from the physicality of heaving big parts around if like me you are out of practice..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Finally got around to starting the job today.

Thanks for all the tips. You were right. Pretty easy with the right tools. The bottom bolt was a right pain. Lots of heat and a bigger hammer and it eventually budged though.

Just done the one side but should be all good for the other side at some point soon.
