They are all like that, and they are sealed from the factory with waterproof tape - the trouble is when anybody removes a stick on plate it pulls the tape off as well - the result being that most people just stick gaffa tape over the hole 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17 |

Didn’t I read so where that generally, cars have vents here, to stop your ear drums popping when door slammed? Also allows low pressure behind moving car to drag out foul air to stop you dieing of asphyxi-fart-ation. |

Not sure about the tailgate, but there are often inner bodywork vents in the rear qtr panels behind the light clusters air.
