L 405 2014 SDV8 Reversing problen

My SDV8 AB 2014 has developed a problem when reversing up very steep slopes . It stops responding to the throttle and comes to a halt Then after pressing the brake starts off normally then comes to a halt again. It's almost as if the EPB is coming on but the strange thing is it stops responding to the throttle at the same time. Has anyone got any ideas.

Check that one or both rear calipers are not getting hot ? they are known for sticking .

I will but the weird thing is the lack of response to the throttle you can press way down with no response when it happens
