1st year with no warranty.. Who won...??

We are now just over a year since the JLR warranty expired. They wanted £1,700 to renew it for a year...

So what has needed work and who won...?

The ARC rear pipe failed and I changed the front as well as it wasn't far behind...

Cost around £1,000 in parts

The only other thing was the aircon needed a regas, that cost £130.

So, as you can see, only £1,130 spent on repairs versus £1,700 for the warranty...

Oh, no, wait a minute.... NEITHER of those issues would have been covered by the warranty as corrosion was the cause of the ARC pipe failure and regassing the aircon is considered a service item

I'll pretend they would have been covered and add £570 (£1,700 - £1,130) to next years repair fund so £2,270 in the kitty..

Or £3,400 if you do the man maths Very Happy

Even with the service costs (and two wheels refurbed Whistle Whistle ) I'm still under £1,700 so I won this year.

I did spend £3 from Aliexpress on a new boot badge so it's now been upgraded to an SV Rolling Eyes Whistle

 Pete

I think you currently on top and very much what I was looking at but have had a different experience so far.

I was very 50/50 about buying an after market warranty for my RR. I had the whole debate with myself about whether a warranty was worth it vs put money away monthly for inevitable repair bills. I spoke to a few 3rd party warranty companies, read their reviews (most of which were usually bad and related to denied claims). After lots of due diligence and reading of small print eventually negotiated a £90 a month 12 month warranty + 2 months free with £3000 per claim limit. So this potentially would leave me out to a tune of £1080 for 14 months HOWEVER after 2 months I made a claim for the dreaded oil temp / level sensor and they covered £1200 of the costs so I suppose overall I am a winner so far!

Yes, with doing the work myself I guessed I would probably win... Thumbs Up

Craig, the badge is a very good copy and being aluminium I managed to massage it to fit the compound curve of the tailgate

And I have £59,996.22 left over... Laughing Thumbs Up Pete
