United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

I've got one O/S and a jacking point from the samples on the site I did for the purpose available now.

It will take maybe 8-10 weeks to have the quantity in for general sale. The final price will be worked out when I have the import duty and VAT bill, etc. But cheaper than the chap selling them on eBay.

Hopefully, Mr Courtney's body guy will give the sample the thumbs up this week and I can press the production button. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Pick up my new to me 2004 4.4 V8 on Saturday. LCM repair already arranged with Merv at Autologic and a few smallish jobs lined up which I can sort.

I’m probably going to be in for will repairs as it had an advisory at the last MoT inner sills corroded. Not bad considering it’s done over 200,000 miles to only have one advisory.

What’s a ball park figure for cutting out and welding in new repair panels ? Would Stuart’s be what I need or are they outer only ?

Very new to anything L322 although currently have a rust free very nice L320 SC as well.

Cheers

Jonny

Is there any rust along the rear wheel arches, or where it has been covered up, these are a known area of corrosion, luckily these guys have parts available and not too bad price wise

A friend of mine near Southend had both sides of his 2003 L322 done last year, and his rear subframe swapped out, he was charged £1000 a side just in labour to fix and weld properly so it would get through the MOT, which it did, he paid for all the parts (but not for the rear subframe which was £200 quid from a local breakers yard near Southend that the welder knew, and often buys stuff from)

I am about to go through the same situation with my 2004 Petrol L322 ( BMW V8 M62 engine) , all the engine, electrical and mechanical work has already been done, just the chassis welds, sillls and rear arches to go Smile

Thanks PC - done quite a bit of reading up on this, but one thing I can’t seem to find an answer to is the cutting and welding price. Finishing and painting I can do, but welding is a dark art I’ve never been taught.

To my uneducated mind the cutting out is 20 mins per side incl marking up and say 1 hr each side to weld. I may be massively wrong and hope someone can educate me, as 3hrs welding at even £100/hr isn’t a massive amount in the scheme of things.

Any welders around ?

It should be easy I agree, but it never is, I saw his car on the ramp last year and it was a basket case, both sides were completely corroded, the car had been in Southend all its life by the sea, the salt air and the salt on the roads probably has not helped over 20 years either.

You might be lucky and have very little corrosion, and it cost you a tenth of what it did for him Smile

Turns out I was pretty close. Spoke to my local Indy who look after my L320 4.2SC. They referred me to their local bodywork chap Dave who has done A LOT of L322s.

He quoted me £450 all in and was even quoting the length of sill repair in mm.

That’s sills and wheel arch lips, plus paint. He even supplies the metal.

He’s booked up until July, but if anyone wants to contact him it’s Dave’s Autobodies in New Ferry, Wirral

Stuart - do you think you will have some stock before Xmas ?

Sorry I missed your earlier message PC. No. The pressing moulds are very expensive to do as there are many curves and undulations. But they are in progress. Then they have to be shipped.

I'd anticipate stock in late February or more likely March.

I can confirm these are now on the water so should be available in 4-5 weeks. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
