002 - glow plug short circuit to ground

Can I confirm that you did not change the glow plug to fix your webasto?

I have the same code, and have finally found a glow plug sold separately from the burner. Unsure wether to purchase it or not though.

Hi Alan.

No i did not change the glow plug.

The fault was in the ECU. The bloke at sercap plugged my ecu into his test rig and reproduced the glow plug sensor fault. He then repaired the ECU and ran it again in his test rig, and no fault!!

That's not to say yours has the same fault of course....

Happy to help further if i can. Thumbs Up

Thanks - weighing up wether to send the ecu of or try a glow plug first.

Suppose either way, a new glow plug won't hurt.

£100 seems reasonable for a repair, been quoted €197 from Germany

Do you have contact details for the ecu repair guy, and is there any charge for no fault found?

Hi

Sorry just got your message.

get in touch with jp at sercap dot fi

he did a great job for me. not sure what the score would be if he tests and no fault found. I guess there is some time involved in testing. Maybe you could negotiate a price.

?£100 for repair and return
?£30 for test and return if no fault

hope you get it sorted out.

If you have dismantled the unit - you can test the glow plug as described above.

cheers

Sourced a glow plug (9017813A) from ebay without the burner for £53 plus carriage.

Fitted it, and I still have the same fault

00 glow plug / flame sensor short circuit to ground.

Looking like a PCB Sad

Arrgh Censored thing!

Seemed to be working fine, however its not. Cold at the moment, went out to try it and the FBH fires Ok and seems to run fine for a minute, I still have no warm air to the cabin and i am still getting a horrid graunching noise after about a minute at which point it shuts down.

When i had the arch liners out a few months ago i noticed what when it was making this noise the hose was expanding slightly to the touch, almost as if it was struggling to push the water round the system.

Is there a valve block in the system somewhere which diverts the flow when the engine is not running as it seems to run fine when the engine is on as additional heating? if so has anyone experienced it jamming so that the FBH cant push the water otherwise i cant think why it would make this noise and seem to srtuggle with pushing water round....

I have taken it to the dealer and they didnt think the unit was faulty...... which i agree with as it fires. but there is a related problem which i cant fathom at the moment...

Cheers Bow down Bow down There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Sorry to hear that, and i'm afraid i've no idea what could be causing the problem!

I would just like to add that I also get the following fault....

00 glow plug / flame sensor short circuit to ground.

But, my FBH works fine with no issues.

We’ve just had the same fault, and the circulation pump was the culprit.

Makes allot of sense, we had noticed that it would ocasionally run ok when the engine was running (presumably the engine was circulating enough coolant) but the park heater function would always shut down at around 2 minutes or so. On the bench Thermo Test couldn’t run the circulation pump, and 12v direct didn’t either.

New pump and so far it’s fired on the remote ok, time will tell I guess.

Hello,

11 years late to this...

I believe I have a faulty ECU on mine. When removing the FBH is the car still drivable? I am told it is connected to the coolant so will be off road if I take the FBH out?
