It’s under the passenger front wheel arch, sort of under the battery. It’s exhaust is down where the front mudflap would go.

That's one point, the other point is; you need petrol (or diesel)! Your petrol tank must be between 1/2 and 3/4 full otherwise the heater will not start. You should also be able to hear the pump, a constant "click" sound. |

The unit is located under the wheel arch panelling on the passenger side, under the battery as mjdronfield already said. If you look under the car you can see the exhaust, small silver coloured flex pipe.

You will have to take the front wheel arch liner out or look behind it. It was standard on all diesels.
