Hi, new member looking to buy a Range Rover.
I do around 6k miles per year and was thinking of a petrol early car as I suspect that there is less to go wrong . I have seen a 4.2 supercharged model and was looking for a buyers guide or advice on what to look for when viewing the car.
Any advice is welcomed.

I'm a complete noob to this, but I expect you're not going to get the specific answer you're probably after.

They're big old cars. History is key but there will be bumps along the road.

Key for me, having now taken the plunge is...

Buy with your heart and enjoy the journey.

Keep some funds for initial repairs, especially if you're not mechanically minded.

Rot is probably the biggest issue for an early one.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will comment on engine and gearbox choice. But it'll likely be bits around the engine and gearbox that'll get in the way of your enjoyment. Any engine or gearbox can let you down, but air suspension, ball joints, rot and electrics will effect all years and all cars.

Best decision I made was to get one. I love it.
