Can you replace a battery without Gap iid?

Hello good folks,

My local garage has offers on new batteries+ fitting.

My understanding is that they don't have the gap iid tool but state they have done many range rovers. Can a new battery be installed on a 3.6 TDV8 (2010) without Gap iid?

Would be extremely grateful for your assistance.

yes, but...

When you activate replacement procedure in iidtool then car will discharge battery to 12V, then charge to 100% and calculate capacity. I don't know what for but it will.
