TD6 noises

Hi all. I have two really irritating noisies on my 2003 TD6. When accelerating hard I start to get a metallic rattle from what sounds to be behind the steering weel / footwell area at around 3000 rpm - almost like loose bolts. However, I've had things apart, and cant find anything inside the car thats loose. Anyone had similar problems?

Second issue also relates to acceleration, I get a squeel, like the sound of a belt slipping, sometimes on acceleration, but only when doing things like overtaking. when I pull away hard, no squeel. I'm concerned its turbo related, but if it were, surely I'd have the problem on hard acceleration from a standing start?

I know diagnosing noises is very difficult without seeing the vehicle, but if anyone can offer some suggestions, it would be great!

Thanks.

not sure about the squeal unless its an intercooler pipe split, mine rubbed through on the big clip by the A/C commpressor, but the rattle could be a exhaust heat shield loose, they can make some odd noises.

good luck with it 03 TD6 vogue....Epsom, very nice

rattle, could be a loose cat in the exhaust. squeal might be a slipping belt..

Thanks for the ideas guys. If its a loose cat - can I just get that removed?

I hope the squeel is as simple as a loose belt, but I've checked the tension on the front drive belt and it seems fine - I would have expected it to squeel from a standing start if it were that though..

Thanks - no MOT's as such here, so sounds like the way to go.
