I’m now a Battery Drain Monitoring Trainee nerd—lol! ;-)

@Kot: Sorry, I just couldn’t resist!

Following on from my recent post in the “What Battery Charger” thread, I thought I’d better start a new post to tell peeps about my new “must have” FFRR gadget Rolling with laughter

As I explained in the other thread, I’ve always been paranoid about “quiescent drain” (which is a bit like paranoia, -you don’t know you have it until too late! Embarassed Laughing ).

So, I bought one of THESE, (after good experience with the “Kot Kit” using the Vgate OBDII dongle in Kots’ other (Title totally plagiarised) “Regeneration Trainee Nerd” thread Embarassed ):-

It’s a little onboard BT module to monitor the battery when the car is all locked up and “asleep”, something that’s not so easy to do otherwise.

Initial play and readings as below, first with CTEK connected, engine start, kill ignition.
Second pic, engine off, CTEK charging slowly:

Then, unplugged the CTEK for a day, and the readings:

So, that’s a drop of 0.03V in 9h, and a drop of 0.05V in another 12h, total of 0.08V in 21h, = 0.09V/24h, or 0.63V per week, -nothing to worry about! Very Happy

I haven’t played with it’s other abilities, cranking test, etc. yet, but here is a pic of the Settings screen:

So far, a very useful addition to the “Nerd” series of essential monitoring gadgets. Embarassed Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Fitting pics are in the “What Battery Charger” thread………. Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I have 2 of these connected to the 2 batteries. The values under the bonnet are lower than the battery and doesn’t take into account the 2nd battery.

With the software I can see the values from the 3 monitors. It automatically records cranking voltage.

I can check on the batteries from my kitchen. If I connect the charger I can monitor that from inside too. SDV8 AB MY 2020

I went for Vgate Official Store on AE, unbelievably there are er, Chinese copies of Vgate products!

P.S. I have only one battery! Idea “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
