Just as a PS to my comment that from about year 7 more substantial costs can be incurred, I've just been told that mine needs about £6,500 of work to get through the MOT, with maybe worse to be discovered. All wear and tear/corrosion items, so my decision not to have extended warranties makes no difference.

Yours is a 2018? And it needs £6,500 work for an MOT what needs doing? |

The largest item is the rear ARC pipes which need to be replaced due to corrosion, the rear subframe needs to be removed for access, lots of work and I fear that there may be additional problems due to galvanic corrosion between the body and the subframe. Then new front discs and pads, ARC bushes, lower control arm bushes, CV joint seals. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

Thanks for that. Mines going in for an indie inspection next week so that’ll be interesting. I’ve got no idea what it’s like underneath. |

Wow, that’s low mileage. I’m assuming it’s the off roading that caused most corrosion. That should happen at that age and mileage. |

The main cause is the combination of lots of road salt and rain, acting on poorly protected components. For example quite a number of the parking sensors at the back of the car have been replaced twice (under warranty) due to corrosion delaminating them, and I'm on my third aluminium strip on the tailgate (again replaced under warranty). Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

The latest is that the parts required, originally expected on 29.1, then 30.1, are now "no ETA". I am told that I will get weekly updates, which suggests that they are not expected any time soon. So alas I have joined the thousands with their RR stuck at the dealer. I have been given a Kia Sportage manual diesel as a "courtesy" car. I'm not enjoying it.

@CS I feel your pain. £6.5k to get through an MOT at 6 years old is scandalous, LR should hold their head in shame.
