I took a risk on this car and a month later I’m still smiling.

I’ll update as I go along but here’s what I bought:

Good points:

- excellent bodywork with no visible rust
- excellent interior (biscuit with black inserts)
- facelift front/rear
- 21” 10 spoke wheels (2013+?)
- drives beautifully
- great MOT history
- part of collection with only a few hundred miles covered in last 6 years

And the inevitable not so good points (those I picked up at the time!):

- small nick on nsf wheel arch
- discoloured door handles
- os running board damaged
- parking sensors not working
- reversing camera not working
- bulb warning on dash
- intermittent ‘normal height only’ on dash
- drivers seat adjustment not working
- steering wheel adjustment not working
- stereo not working
- less than a month left on MOT
- 109k miles but service records lost in house move. Last 6 years covered by print out from indie LR specialist but just brakes and oil changes in that time

I wanted an sc, hadn’t seen one like it in my search and thought I would tackle the issues over time. A deal was struck and so my L322 journey began.

My first stop after picking up the car was Pegasus Garage in Newington, Kent. Their customer reviews are excellent and I thought I’d book in for a service and MOT with them. A chat with Jason resulted in booking in for engine, gearbox and supercharger service plus parking sensor fix.

Being a busy LR specialist, the next available slot was a month away, a day before the MOT expired. I took it.

I also spoke to Steve at the bodyshop next door. He gave me a quote for the wheel arch and door handles and offered to colour match the bonnet insert too. The plan was for Jason to pass the car on to Steve and for me to pick the car up from him.

That left me a few weeks for me to get on with sorting out my issues list. What would be first on your list? For me it was the stereo. And that’s for the next instalment.

My car is at the garage so can’t take a pic of my Bluetooth module install. But in the meantime, I took the lidded storage cup out of the centre cup holder with the intention of restoring it.

The rubberised finish on the lid was very worn and the retaining ring had split in two places.

It’s all stripped and repaired now but I don’t know what to use to re-finish the lid. A post under L322 maintenance and mods seems to have attracted no interest. Any suggestions?

Personally I'd just Scotchbrite it and give it a couple of coats of satin black. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

That would probably do it. But there’s nothing else in the cockpit with a satin black finish. Unless of course I go a step further and paint the cup holder, gear lever surround and heater control fascia to match. That could work actually. Thanks!

Hi, you could use some leather paint that matches your existing trim, it sets quite hard and yet retains a sort of rubberised feel to it. Surprisingly hardwearing and you can apply it with a small sponge, a couple of coats to get a uniform finish.

You can buy off EBAY in small bottles to match your existing trim, I touched up some of mine. OK, it's not going to last forever and you wouldn't use do a door handle in the stuff, but for something that's going to have light wear it'll do fine. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

An interesting option. My interior is biscuit with a black centre panel on the seats. I could do the storage cup lid in black and I think it would work. Nice idea, thanks!

I’m 10 weeks in now and made a lot of progress.

Simple things first:

1. Driver's seat and steering wheel adjustment not working

I got lucky on this one. The fuse had blown.

2. Upper tailgate not closing properly

Another easy fix. Whip off the trim, undo the latch, apply Loctite 272 (high strength) threadlocker and reassemble.

3. NS Side step damaged
