Simply to keep the establishment at the top and the rest of us down below where we belong. Nothing whatsoever to do with cars. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

As ludicrous as a constitutional monarchy is in this century, id rather have them as HoS than another layer of politician. As MPx mentions, we'd likely only get two to choose from and they'd both be utter melts. First time FFRR owner

Sad though it was, my first sight of the new L460 was the TV coverage of the escorts to the late Queen's funeral cortege.

I think over the hours of video I saw every angle except underneath it.

Sad day, but nice car. I thought I best go check that out.

Just one of their many cars from their fleet...

Anyone done a count on the number of Land / Range Rovers in the Royal Family's automobile stable?

Hi, crikey they'll be dozens, probable scattered all over the country as well.

There's a load dotted about in museums, Gaydon as Wiilaims old FF that he picked the kids up with hospital and a couple of the Queen's land rovers she used for parades etc.

They rarely come up for sale, I guess to stop people profiteering from the provenance.

Perhaps a thread in itself there, spotting all the Royal Fatties.. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

It’s pretty shameful but we’re no longer allowed to be proud of being British.

Incidentally the Audi is a long term thing, runs on biodiesel made from Highgrove cooking oil etc. HRH The Prince of Wales was shown in an Audi too.

Considering it’s also Prince Andrew’s, Prince William’s and even was even Diana’s choice of car, I ask the following two questions:

1. What are they doing respresenting us to the world and…
2. Germany: would you take the royal family back now please?!

What are we doing paying for them? Can’t we get Audi to pay for them through their marketing budget?

I'm all for it, competition, if LR want to win back Customers they need to come up with some decent new products.

If we go down the commie route of only driving British because of some lame sense of loyalty we'll be back to the 70s where everything that came out of British factories was well designed but completely crap quality.

Ergo Range Rover Classic, (the benchmark of all that is good about British design) you could not have possibly planned a more still born piece of crap if you wanted to. Only now after enthusists have been painstakingly holding them together for years are they attaining their true status.

Government vehicles still have to show value for money and be available for use and if the car is always stuck at the side of the road, or awaiting parts then no fleet manager is going to stand for that no matter the level of brand loyalty. Can you remember when BL directors refused to accept company cars because they didn't want the hassle.

What kind of a manufacturer doesn't sell spare engine parts for a car that can barely breathe by itself is beyond me.

The Germans are coming, stand by your beds.

I love the above quote, 'The Germans are coming, stand by your beds' a wee bit late there Whistle as the Royal family changed their family name from from Saxe-Coburg Gotha to Windsor in 1917, this was obviously just a coincidence, what with WW1 by then three years ongoing !!!!!

As for driving non JLR products, if someone hands you the keys to a nice car, and it's ALL FREE, it's even all organised for you, you do not even have to stop to put fuel in ! would you complain ? possibly not.

Am sure it's still going on. Diana famously had a one of Ford Escort RS Turbo in black given her by Ford, Princess Anne had her Reliant Scimitar, I'm sure there were more but mind's gone blank.

According to Sky News today, the Queen's Loire Blue Fatty is up for sale, only a cool quarter million though.

She didn’t particularly like that though. She loved the L322 and kept it for years.

Princess Anne has a Disco 5, hated it and asked for her D4 back. Was told no by LR as it was to be sold by n the second hand market. She bought it back.
