Another Airbag question...

2012 L322 TDV8

I’ve just bought a pair of front Airbags and for the time being, replaced the RHF one. At the same time, I’ve stripped, cleaned and replaced the seals in the front control valve.

I now have a situation where the RHF now drops after a while of standing...

It can only be an air leak and I’m now understanding that most people replace the entire strut assembly rather than just the bag as they are difficult to seal.

Can anyone shed any light on actually getting them to seal..?

Many thanks in anticipation.
Mark.

I replaced both front bags last year, one was precautionary, the other had failed. When doing the first one we did have some trouble getting it all back together and being confident that it had seated/sealed properly before putting on the car and then maybe having to take off again… Big Cry from memory it never felt that we had got it fully sealed and ended up just putting it back on the car and tbf it worked first time. No leaks.
Is it possible you may have created a leak in the control valve?? People recommend the old spray bottle and washing up liquid to hunt down any air leaks on the bag and/or valve… Cheers, Steven.

Update...

It appears that I have a leak from the top of the strut... so I’m going to look at that again...

During the process, I damaged the top threads so that when I put it back together, I wasn’t sure IF the nut ran fully home... So, this time. I’m going to chase the threads...

Can anyone tell me what thread the strut top is... from my memory, it’s 12 x 1.5 mm Can anyone confirm this and I’ll buy a die nut.

Many thanks,

Mark.
