Also Chris (encase you did not know... didnt see it mentioned) be sure to remove both sump drain plugs when doing the oil change

I bought my first TDV8 last week. I have just done an oil change on it. I found this feature very useful. Thanks for the info.
It’s the first time I have seen two drain plugs on a sump. Bizarre. The rear drain only let out a very small amount of oil, as I did it second after draining the forward plug. What’s the point of the rear drain plug?

I too am always perplexed on why TD engines manage to turn their oil black almost immediately. No matter what. I come from a Petrol engine background, where oil stays clean for a long while and gradual darkens. But I have two diesel land rovers now, so it’s getting used to it. 2007 L322 TDV8 3.6 Vogue SE

Separate oil pan from turbos. To ensure oil drain from turbos in offroad conditions when car inclination is too big and regular pan oil level can be above the level of turbocharger.

Not worth it. Change the oil more regularly if you are worried about contamination or sludge. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Regarding Engine flushes, below is a video from O Reillys mobile mechanic. He did an experiment where he did an oil change on a land rover and when he dipped the oil after it was still black. He then drained that new oil and it was black. Believe it or not but it took 5 oil changes before he started seeing gold colour.

So as oil flushes go with the current price that would be over €600 and oil change!

Yes, thats true. I also tryed once, make 3 x oil change, it goes golder, but not compleatly.
