Got into a secret menu by holding the valet button for around a minute but nothing I can do in that menu. Is there another one I am missing? SDV8

So finally got it up and going. Not quite what I was hoping for. interface works well but you lose the Factory satnav and if you want sound out of the aftermarket box you lose factory sound as aux has to be enabled to get sound from the aftermarket box.

I normally listen to the radio whist driving, obviously now I cant. I tried streaming radio etc but where I live phone signal is pretty sketchy so that is a no go. I will find a way but for now I am pretty happy for what it cost.

I did consider replacing the whole setup but as my car has dual screen the cheapest interface/screen I can find is over £700. Its just not worth it for me.

if you want a cheap and simple to fit Apple carplay this fits the bill if you don't listen to the radio Sad SDV8

this was the reason why i went for a portable type screen mounted above the OE screen...

thsi gives you carplay/android auto and you still have DAB/FM and the native navigation.. ... - .- -.

Yeah I think that was the right decision. See how this goes, I might change to something similar to your set up SDV8

So had this some months now and basically its rubbish.

You lose OE satnav and if you want sound to work when reading text or satnav you need to put it in aux but then you lose your radio. I cant use any streaming services as I live up north and the signal is very patchy, would be a good option if you can stream

Another annoying thing is, I cant look at my surround cameras. If I hit the button they come on then drop straight back off and return to the car play screen.

Basically a waste of £300. Might be acceptable if you stream music

On the very odd occasion it will work and I can hear text being read out but I would say that works 2 out of 10. Obviously the option is available but never really works. When it works its pretty good. Hit read text, it will cut the radio, read the text then return to the radio.

overall 2 out of 10 I would say SDV8

This is the same system fitted to mine when I brought it. I have the same issue with the reversing camera dropping out. I have tried to remove it, but when plug in the original system I cannot get the mapping on the touch screen, but the next turn information appears in the message centre and also the location / road number on the touch screen. Looks l8ke an issue with the LDVS cable.

Looking at going for a separate screen as above

I followed this video
I didnt buy their product though https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wireless-a...port-l494/

I brought the one posted here, as its was less than half the cost. Also my car is dual screen and this one works fine BTW. https://www.iceboxauto.com/range-rover-evo...droid-auto

When it got to putting the box under the glove box as in the youtube video the ICE products cables where not long enough so i put it in the lower glove box for now. I drilled a round hole in the upright bit of the glove box on the inside. If I ever remove the system a rubber grommet can be put in place of the hole as you wouldnt see it.

I think there is room to pottentially put it behind the lower glove box near a filter you can see when you completely lower the box. Personally I am happy with it in the lower glove box and will tidy up the wires.

It transforms the car and your use of interacting with the car.
I got good support from IceAuto via whatsapp groups and Videos.
I had a firmware update off them as well.
Things that got mine working where:
1. Make sure you connect the arial to the unit Wi-fi connection was unreliable without it
2. Your phone will connect to the units Wi-Fi automatically but make sure Wi-Fi is on on your phone
3. Connect to the cars bluetooth for phone calls ONLY far better quality.
4. Connect to the units bluetooth at the same time without Calls enabaled for everything else.

So to work Phone connected to units Wi-FI and TWO Bluetooth Connections one to the unit and one to the origainl cars bluetooth for Calls ONLY.

Best

Stewart

Wonder if the software update fixes some issues. I have the very same unit from the same suppliers and it’s pretty hit or miss. Annoying I can’t see my cameras as it jumps back to the nav. Reverse camera works but keep getting a screen asking if I want to use the camera. Of course I do I am in reverse that’s the whole point.

Mine is under the glovebox. No issues with wire length.

Will see if I can get the upgrade before I rip it out and go with 2 screens SDV8
