L322 2004 Battery Question

The driver seat controls packed up on MY04, I managed to get a working switch panel, so I took off the old one ( it has 3 connectors on the back ) , and was about to put on the new one but wondered whether I should be disconnecting the 12v battery in the engine bay first - I know it's probably the right thing to do but if I take the fuses out that relate to the switch panel - would that suffice ??

In the owners handbook it says Fuse 20 ( a 30a fuse) is the Drivers seat and steering column, so I presume removing it is best practise when replacing the drivers electrics ( seat controls ) Thumbs Up
