Diesel pouring out!

Not sure what connects on top of the fuel tank but if l fill up until a click at the pump, diesel ends up all over the forecourt. I tried to have a look from under the rear seats(above the fuel tank) but nothing obvious. Anyone had a similar issue. It doesn't seem to leak when the tank is less than full, only when l fill to the brim(which l won't be doing for a while).

Cheers,

John.

It sounds like your fuel tank is not venting, the hose is either blocked or wedged against something, limiting air pressure. Worst case is a split high on the fuel tank or the vent hose itself.

Thanks for the info Laurie, do you have any idea how accessible the vent pipe is from underneath the car? I hope to get a look once the temperature rises a good bit above 0 degrees! I just hope that l don't have to remove the tank!

If the rear wheel was off, and the splash shield carfully undone, and removed, you will see the filler tube which has connections to the filler nozzle receiver… that has clips, and might be the source. Wet pipe will tell you what you need to know.
