Mute your Driver's seatbelt Warning Chime

I am assuming everyone knew this...
The Range Rover was designed as an 'Agricultural' vehicle to plod along on your massive Country Estate.
Driving at low speeds and hopping in and out to check on 'things'. The seatbelt was not really needed.
Having the chime dinging incessantly was annoying to the prized herding dog, so Range Rover built in a 'Cheat Code'. Click and unclick the driver's belt 10 times in quick succession - the red seatbelt light illuminates, but the chime is gone.

I did this to my L322 years ago, and just recently thought - let's try the 2016 L405 (only one in the know universe with an L494 Shifter fitted...) 10 Clicks/unclicks a single ding - then Quoth the Raven... Ding Nevermore! 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

May 2016 I was still driving an Audi A6 4.2 - waiting for my Daughter to Graduate college so I could get her a Jeep Grand Cherokee and take over Col. Reb!(L322)
To that point all I was doing was paying Range Rover Maintenance bills without the Joy of Driving one...
I think it was 2019 or so that I saw something on the other forum...

Sorry for the repeat post - hopefully it does not cost the Admins a week's pay or anything.
But it looks like we helped Dr. Rob...
So there's that.

I am just glad they brought it forward!

@Phoenix - wasn't the P38 before the L319? I thought I read somewhere that it worked at least as far back as the P38. 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

Col Reb - 2006 NA V8 Jag has this enabled...
no ding, no bong... just red dude on the dash.

Love it when I deliver Smoked Pork Butt (shoulder) or my soon to be World Famous non-Texas Brisket to the neighbors

it has to predate 2007... 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

Seems like I can find a Ford truck around here somewhere to see if it will yield the same result.

I still think it's a cool hack... Thumbs Up 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

Interesting.

I get annoyed by the constant Drivers’ door open bong when I’m in & out with the engine running, or seeing the missus off to work etc. Sorry slightly OT Embarassed but is there any way to mute that also?
I don’t have an iiD tool unfortunately Big Cry “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

@Phoenix:

Unfortunately the WM does not cover how to close the Drivers’ door? Rolling with laughter Shocked

Scenario: bitterly cold/icy, need to keep the door open with ign on, to prevent icing inside windows due to hot sweaty human inside (not my missus, ovbs Shocked ) Did this tonight uploading new maps, yes in the dark Rolling Eyes , yes in the bitterly cold Rolling Eyes Embarassed and don’t laugh Censored I have OCD and these things are hard to control, you have to understand, they must be done right NOW! . Laughing Very Happy

And before you say it, NO can’t just open the window, in case it is iced shut and rips the rubbers off Surprised
I also suffer from paranoia & tinnitus, so worrying about ripped seals and incessant bongs, and soot percentage just does Gremlins head in! Evil or Very Mad Big Cry Rolling with laughter

As always, most grateful to you lovely (and some very clever) chaps on here, this is the absolute best car group forum I have taken part in, well this and Z4forum.com where I lurked for a long time.

Bow down Bow down Bow down “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I just wish that they had designed the cars with two levels of the 'bong of doom'

I do not need to be given a heart attack when it tells me that the ambient temp has dropped to 4 degrees C. Censored A softer tone would be sufficient for such warnings Thumbs Up with a more strident tone for serious faults, to advise you that you are just about to become penniless Big Cry

Totally agree Merchy, or take it a stage further, anything serious doesn't bong at all and Fatty just emails you 5mins after you stop with the fault and cost to fix.... Rolling with laughter Pete
