Which Brake Discs are OEM?

My RR is due for service soon and the brake discs are quite badly lipped.

Thinking about getting the service done at the independent but getting someone else to fit the discs and pads and buy them myself to save money.

Does anyone know what OEM are?

The options on Euro Car parts are Brembo/Pagid and Bosch.

It's worth getting a price from Robin at Duckworths. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of genuine parts so got my discs and pads from him, delivered next day & fitted by the local garage I use.

I was surprised by the number of garages that won't fit owner purchased parts.

I bought all new Brembo pads and discs and genuine brake lines for over £600. Made me laugh the garages that said they would do the job but only with their supplied parts. Like anyone would just go OK, but I couldn't find a garage to agree to use the parts provided. Just shows £100/hr isn't enough, they want to screw the punter on parts also.

In the end I fitted them myself so saved a few hundred £ there. Anyway, best check with the garage first before buying the parts yourself if DIY isn't your back up option.

How easy were they to fit Baz? its been years since I've done it but I am quite handy and have all the tools.

PS yes I understand that a lot of companies wont fit themselves.

I was thinking of maybe a mobile mechanic if I can't do it myself.

Jay I done mine a couple of weeks ago front and back all new fitted with Brembo discs and pads bought from Autodoc. I checked prices with them over a few weeks period and bought when they reduced the price, it changes often.
With the right tools it's no problem , check here for help.

Its not about screwing the owner/customer, its a liability thing Wink

Not sure if you also have the Brembo 6 pot calipers or not, I have MY11 car which does ............

So I recently replaced my front discs with Brembo Part No. 09.A771.11 ( approx £100 for the pair )

These are nice because there is little to no dust when used with a set of new EBC Green Stuff pads, I bought the pads from Maltings 4x4, part no GA4739, they cost £130 delivered.

Brembo say these are using UV paint "The Brembo brake disc with special UV paint treatment guarantees superior corrosion resistance for the product, thanks to the protective coating on the outer edges and on the disc hub" - we will see over the winter if that is true Smile

So far though, after 4 or 5 trips I am very happy with the 6 pot Brembo stopping power, and also no brake dust to speak of - very happy about that !

Tis a while back that I fitted new discs / pads all round plus new shoes and all the springs etc for the hand brake, got the lot when Euro car parts had one of their flash sales and bought the parts in advance. All Pagid, for a smidgeon over £300. I was impressed by the quality of said parts and have never had any problems with them.

As for fitting them, if you have not done this job before, there are several very good 'How to' videos from well respected companies on you tube. Just remember to think of the safety aspect when using axle stands etc Thumbs Up

Imagine you own a garage, you take your job on and before you know it, the pads don't fit as the owner has bought the wrong ones! Or ECP have supplied the incorrect parts! Now you have a dead car tying up a valuable ramp...
The following day the customer rolls in with "take two" and you get the correct parts fitted. The customer collects the car without a second thought for your lost time/revenue!
Now roll on two weeks and there's a knock at the door... "Here mate, them brakes you fitted are making a terrible racket!" "can you have a look?" or? "Here mate, you did my brakes the other week! Now the EML has come on... Must be due to your work!"

No wonder they all say NO!!! As we all want to screw the punters yeah! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Yes its a liability thing as my local garage would not even let me supply the oil and filter for my Skoda.
Yet another local let me supply both for another car.

Some do and others dont just shop around if thats what you want to do.

Even some Aston garages let you supply the oil. overfinch modified

If you are confident enough do the job yourself. It cost me £380 for front and rear uprated discs and pads.you have to put the rear handbrake into maintenance mode there are YouTube videos showing you how to do this.

I'm always surprised by the number of drivers who expect to be able to take their own parts to a workshop.

Do they also take their own bread into a cafe and ask for it to be toasted? 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Bit of a silly example Dan?

I've used decorators who ask me to supply the paint. Builders who ask me to purchase the materials for them and they will bill for their time.

I've also used garages where they said they are happy for me to supply the parts as I get a better discount than them.

Laughing Asking costs nothing!

And noted that Durham unfortunately is sandwiched (sorry for the pun) between Yorkshire and Scotland, where some locals are rumoured to bring their own bread Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
