Electric rear seat folding 'not available'.

Since the day I received the car, I'm at war with this gimmick.

First the central rear armrest would not go fully up/down. They fixed that.

Then I often had the seatbelts stuck between the chair and the pillar, hence we had to get all out

again and fiddle with the seats to liberate the belts.

Now I was in a hurry to take a large oil-on-canvas to be cleaned.

And yes : two left rear seat sections (LHD) grumbled a bit, but did not budge at all.

First I tried the buttons at the rear. The single seat down/up works.

Not so the left and/or armrest. At first the armrest did, but I moved it up

as I suspected it had to latch first with the leftpart.

Finally I tried the central control panel. A forward arrow showed for the driver seat,

so I got out of the car and moved it forward. No difference.

In the central display the left two elements show in the icon 'halfway folded', as the are upright,

while showing a 'thinking' sign (revolving arrow).

Finally I removed all from the rear of the MX-30 Mazda and used that..

Before I spend money for nothing ( don't bother for free chicks even..), who knows how to

get these seats 'in gear' again ? I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

I've never had an issue folding them down.

I do get the seatbelts trapped sometimes bringing them back up, so I've changed my behaviour and use the recline buttons on either side of the rear seats themselves to move the seats up. That way I can ensure the seatbelts are free as the seats raise.

Alistair,

Do you mean you use the switch controls on the doors to move the backrest to free a belt that got trapped ?

I started to buckle-up the seatbelts before folding them to avoid them to get trapped when unfolding..

Anyway : latest news is that a wire broke in the central armrest cable and they have to replace the complete armrest,

IF THEY GET PERMISSION FROM "APPROVED" ... Shocked

Then it has to be custom made for my car and that could take months I assume.

Anyway it costs € 6300- as a part . One used to be able to buy a small car for that sum..

Anyway, I thought "this-is-rediculous" .. so I googled it.

Someone came up with the upper latch of the ski-hatch behind the armrest at the top edge of the rear seats.
When replaced it all worked again. So I tried to lock it - what I tried before and it would not - , but it did now..
And it works again!

I have 2019 my Lwb with executive rear seating. I have to agree they are so much bother.

Few things I noticed,

1, the buttons in boot (right hand side) if knocked/ lean against or slightly touch them. The seats start to lower. When items are on rear seats this causes all kinds of bother. Putting them out of sync. ( I believe on earlier models you had to push and hold down button for 1/2 seconds to get to work, seems they have removed that on 2019my)

2, seat belts do tend to get caught up when seat’s start lowering, so make sure to tuck belts away when not used behind side bolster, this helps ( process shown in my handbook)

3, ski hatch , if released has to be pushed back into lock position manually, otherwise seats/ arm rest does not respond when button pressed ( either on front display or boot buttons)

4, seat belt buckles get stuck in hole on base of seats when put back to upright position. Meaning you have to fish them out my hand. This has caused the plastic around the buckle to crack ( done by previous owner) so be careful.

5, I found if seats don’t unlatch and drop, carefully assist by hand by pressing button then apply very slight pressure either forward or backwards on seat back as motor try’s to unlatches the seats. This helps me.

But in all honesty I try not to use them as never know if will work or not.

It sounds familiar. This is 'over engineering' pur sang.
Sadly it means a plethora of malfunctions too..

And to top it off : no 'manual override' to skip the buck temporarily..

I'm thinking of buying a new Mazda CX-60, pure and simple.
No headaches.. I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

Just resurrecting an old thread with my recent experience.

The electric folding of the larger portion of the rear seat (seat + armrest) wasn’t playing ball. I checked if the ski hatch section above the armrest was locked in position; nope and refused to lock. So with bated breath I asked the main dealer to have a look during my service.

Turned out that the rear seats required ‘recalibration’ (no details given other than that). About 40 quid and sorted! 2018 P400e AB LWB
