Unfortunately/fortunately I’m not purchasing from a LRMD, it’s coming from an independent specialist.

I thought the incontrol secure app was activated/included for the first 3 years? Is this not transferable to new owners? I presume thereafter you just pay a yearly subscription?

Yes that is correct

J9SHT you should be able to download a certificate of installation of In Control Secure from the In Control section of the LR website. You have to create a profile using the VIN number and then have access to the relevant bit of the site. I think there was a link to it on another thread on here. The certificate does not give a date of installation and says that ICS is available only when the subscription is paid, and this led my insurers (Privilege) to reject it to begin with. They are presumably used to the aftermarket type of certificate, where the installer confirms installation and subscription payment. However once I explained to them that it is built in as part of the vehicle build at the factory and three years' subscription is included from new they accepted it.

Apart from popularity with thieves, 405s are expensive to repair due to the aluminium architecture and only certain paint shops being authorised to do them for the LR corrosion warranty purposes, they are more readily written off than were 322s. My excess is over £1100. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I realise this is an old thread but I thought I'd search for insurance-related topics before potentially creating a new one.

Am contemplating a 19 plate P400e and was stunned when 4-figure insurance quotes came back. Can get it for 900ish with a £500 excess. But reading this thread, it looks like it's an expensive car to insure.

For a mid 50s bloke with 20 years NCD, living in the middle of nowhere (ish) this is a huge surprise after many years of paying around £200 per year.

Got an alert as I had subcribed to this topic.

For fun I logged into my old InConrol account.
I handed my car back at the end of the PCP contract in August 2020.

All journey details for the eventual new owner have been logged up to July 2022 and accessable by me.

I can only assume that the new owner did not take out a subcription that would have cancelled mine ?? BMW X3 30e XDrive M Sport

My new car has a current subscription for the secure tracker that expires at the end of January. I got an email from LR offering me a renewal price for a year at £240 and 2 years for about £100 or so more, so looks a good deal.
Is this worth it , not necessarily to get a reduction in insurance but for added peace of mind? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Interestingly I’ve just purchased a 2019 SDV8 Autobiography and my premium has reduced slightly. I previously had a 2023 Defender 110 P400e x-dynamic HSE. I have about 2 months left on my policy and I received a rebate of £11, which includes an admin charge of £15 for the change. I also live in Cumbria.

I recently moved to Cumbria from Lancashire (September) and received a rebate of £75 for the post code change.

My original premium was £639 2019 L405 SDV8 Autobiography
