United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Zermatt Silver

Gave up trying to beat my renewal with Admiral. All comparison site quotes and direct Line and LV were way more expensive and some required a tracker fitting. Called Admiral yesterday to see what they could do and they dropped £70 off the renewal quote immediately.

Shame we have to play this game every year..... Current: FF Westminster money pit

AA have upped the renewal premium to over £400 for the coming year.
Go compare offered several for around the £250 mark, so I have switched to RAC for £255 including legal expense cover and protected NCB., just hope I get to use BB a bit more now restrictions are easing.

My Overfinch is with Aviva as they are quite happy to insure with mods luckily, bad experience with Admiral though when my sons mint 2002 l322 vogue v8 was written off by a drunk driver a few years back, took 4 months to get a decent settlement as they couldn’t differentiate between a modern classic and a shed on the cusp of going to the great parts bin in the sky. It was only the customer service director who sorted that one out Holland and Holland Range Rover By Overfinch

I don't know how old your cars are mine is a 2011 vogue and i found out today that when i insured with tescos two years ago I had no theft cover!
why you ask? well because i did my insurance online and not through there contact centre! Online they do not ask if the car is fitted with a tracker anywhere but I was renewing my car and wanted to add a second car so called them and apparently my car is meant to have a tracker fitted? i explained it never asked the question on line and the guy said he thinks its in the terms and conditions. i then tried Churchill, Esure, Privilege and Direct line all of whom i only had to pay to get my insurance but at that stage i phoned each one to check if my car needed a tracker and the answer was YES! again nowhere did it ask.

Just got a quote from A plan for my new Westminster due for delivery at end of month, wait for it.....Between £4000 & £5000.
Most other quotes hover around £450.

It’s interesting looking back to my post last year.
I was with AA and they upped my quote to over £400, so I switched to RAC for £255.

My renewal hasn’t arrived yet, but AA are now offering me the exact same cover for £204 for the coming year.
It’s the cheapest I have had in many years., so I’ve swapped back to them.

England

I've just renewed (for the second time) with Churchill. The cost last year was £682, had my renewal through this morning which was £651 so going in the right direction but a quick check online showed a couple of polices at £598/£599 and my current provider at £603.

I went onto their online chat and they offered £548.72. A little annoyed that I didn't get their best price first time around, but it's much less hassle to stick and it saves £50 over moving so I'm not that annoyed!

I don't think that's bad for the risk profile and value of the car, plus it's for 20k miles a year and full business use for both of us. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Just had exactly the same, with Churchill. Just about to pay and then 'you need a tracker fitted with a network subscription. otherwise you will not be covered for Theft'.

I have a 2013 Vogue, since 2019, never had a tracker fitted, so presumably not insured for Theft all those years.

Bigbill, how did you resolve your tracker issues.

It’s 7 years since I started this thread and yet again I have just gone through the annual renewal challenge.

I paid £204 last year with the AA.
When my renewal arrived on Tuesday they wanted £354 for identical cover for the coming year.

Go compare found me the identical cover with Bank of Scotland for £242.
Then yesterday I got an email from the AA offering to price match any lower quotes , so I gave them a ring on the number they sent and within 5 minutes with no fuss at all they accepted the £242 renewal.

It’s less than I paid back in 2021 when I moved to Wales and my premiums dropped significantly compared to when I lived in Oldham, but still quite a jump from last year. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

Insurance alert - Sad

Mine is coming up for renewal having paid £440 last year for Social Domestic Business and Pleasure with Geoffrey Insurance on 2015 SDV8 Autobiography . I received a letter from them saying "Unfortunately we are unable to obtain a quote" I had also received the usual alerts coming through from the usual Confused-meerkat-go compare.com lot with the best price at £810 with Swift sure about two weeks ago as renewal date is 9th Dec. I have a clean licence , with no accidents claims in last five years. I live in the New Forest which is a fairly low crime area.

I started looking around as could not believe how much it had gone up . Spoke to FFRR recommended company whose best price was £1,200! He apologised that he could not do any better and said if the £810 quote is still available to go for it .Re submitted yesterday the data for new quotes to find Swiftsure had gone up to £1,100 ! So managed to re kindle original quote and purchased at £810.

Apparently Insurance companies have been behind the curve on escalating repair costs largely due to less accidents over covid so are now having to make up ground with soaring insurance cover prices. Electric vehicles are not helping by catching fire !
A Friend of mine in Westminster wanted to buy a new 2024 Range Rover but JLR would not take his order without him having insurance confirmation. That was a staggering £20,000 pa so he is going for a Porsche Cayenne !- Mad fool Laughing
So watch out for renewal hikes and shop around as much as you can .Merry Christmas!
