Thats a great help RRUK - thanks for taking the time to post that.

I'm now on the hunt for a BMW module to complete this - the 13th Generation one I'm told is the best one. Needs a bit of re-pinning in the multi-plug to make it work properly apparently. from looking at the pics above though, it appears the BMW unit effectively replaces two units- the TCU and the Voice recognition Module.

ebay.de seems to be a good source for bits at the moment.
