car insurance - wtf ( and Whats Landrover Doing about it ...

.

CAR INSURANCE - WTF

Think we all see the news and especially on Youtube in the last few days

Insurance companies are not renewing or most cases not quoting on Landrover 4x4 cars

In London and major cities - you cannot get Insurance.

A friend of mine has a FFRR 22 plate and was quoted a few days ago - £9300.00 compreshensive with 70per cent NCD

Whats the story so far - has LR just gone too far now with selling these cars knowing their sercurity is far short of what it should be !!!

Are we all doomed on here ......

The prices of used New Defender and Range Rovers ARE FALLING FAST !

and go and sit in a main LR dealership - its dead
Seems like on one's buying these cars - go and see yourself

JLR security may be equal to other makes n- maybe it's the desirability of the cars that is more attractive.

The price "we" pay for lazyness.

@Geoff:

“only £735 per annum” Very Happy

We must appreciate, that is the cost of an entire vehicle to some less fortunate people.

Sometimes, we have to stop, and think about how lucky we all are, to be swanning around in luxury in our FFRR’s, moaning about how many 000’s it’s costing for this, that, or the other.

If we couldn’t afford it, we wouldn’t be here……

@Geoff

Sorry no offence intended, it was meant to be a lighthearted remark made totally in humour. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

No problem Gremlin I may occasionally whinge and moan on here, it generally relates to my own stupidity or being fleeced by a dealer (even by people on here). I only checked insurance out of interest because I thought folk were exaggerating the issue (mines not due until next March) so I just fed back what I found in my case. I enjoy running a Range Rover and SWMBO likes me driving her around in it so all the costs are irrelevant ( Insurance being just one of them) as the saying goes “Happy wife, Happy life” so what’s a few quid Very Happy SO NONE TAKEN Geoff

My view is that car insurances in general have rocketed (doubled/tripled…) but Land Rover/FFRR are getting more media and Social media attention.

@Geoff: Thanks for your forgiveness.

Well, mine is also due for renewal next March, so I’ll probably get my well-deserved comeuppence then! Embarassed Rolling with laughter

Insurance companies always seem to be looking for the least excuse to jack up the prices, but do they ever come down when the risks recede? NO! Crying or Very sad “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Actually they came down during covid as the risk was reduced due to nobody driving. Mine came down when I increased the actual risk by parking it on the street and not in a locked car park with 24hr security and CCTV simply because the former is the registered address. RR are being targeted not so much due to their poor security but because of how desirable they are in the countries where they end up being shipped to.
Insurance premiums are based on total cost of claims in your area so if 10 £70k + RR's are going missing every week of your neighbours drives you end up paying..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

An interesting video showing how many of the big retailers Land Rovers are now being disposed of through the auctions...

and not selling at suggested values..

IMHO

everything being tarred with the same brush.

Insurance companies failing to understand pre and post 2022 cars

Not taking into account JLR updating 2018 cars , according to the vid.

Yes it’s an issue until the facts are separated. Swiftly sorted or indeed it’s too late & we are doomed! ~~

I looked at pxing but the dealer’s offer wasn’t right , so for the moment I will hold back, not in a desperate need & a bit busy to go running around other dealers just now.

Agreed JLR need to get a grip of the narrative, failing spectacularly. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...
