Unfortunately, all the apps that are available use information sourced not directly, and in real time, from the vendors themselves. So if you're not in an area with a lot of users of the app, or the pricing isn't otherwise published, the data will be at best out of date and at worst missing completely.
The Government's suggested approach is to force real-time data to be published by the vendors directly, which can be accessed via an app or apps.
This is a substantial improvement.
Example - where I'm at right now, the PetrolPrices app says the cheapest fuel is 138.9ppl at a local supermarket. I know where it is, as I filled up with diesel there yesterday at 133.9ppl. It's not been 138.9ppl for about six weeks. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
