Was a bit miffed as only recently fitted new discs and pads on my RR with brembo calipers.
Soon after developed a rattle which turned out to be the brake shield. Could have so easily done it a the same time!!
Anyway found on other sites that rather than remove hub you can cut part of the shield to fit. I know this is probably not the correct way but removing the hub is beyond what I can do at home.
Also didn't fancy removing those bloody pins for the pads etc.. had a right job last time.
Anyway managed to remove and refit caliper with pads still attached to caliper. Cut the new shield as per pictue and can confirm that because of where the bolts are it doesn't affect rigidity of the shield.
Happy rattle free me.

The same can be done to the rear shields too, just cut straight from top to bottom and fit.

I think on the L405 the cut has already been done. Common sense prevailed for once 🤣

Morning gentlemen - this post came up during a search. I’ve got to replace my rear shields, does anyone have a photo of where to cut the rear splash/brake shields please?

And how best to refit back together once in place?

I used pop rivets and stainless brackets to hold it tight together, but I'm sure you could use whatever you have as long as it clears the disk when you put it back on.

In the end I managed to replace both sides shoes and all new springs etc by using penny washers behind the brake dust shield/back plate, save cutting and replacing the back plates themselves.

Was nowhere near as painful as I was expecting. Great link and write up by the way!

No worries, I used the washer fix for my front brake shields as they weren't as badly corroded as the rear ones.
