Removed Clima-Control Bar / MY24

For Information, I found these pictures from a MY24 in the net.

It shows the Wood-Panel in real pictures.

The camera angle and the light does not help. Considering this, it still is a to „naked“ space for this very visible position. Looking forward to find pics in lighter leather and hopefully the contrast works better, but in all black it isn’t good.

That looks awful! I have another order in and this may sway me to keep the one I have.

Surely they will have to change that for the mid-term update in a few years time. MY23 D350 HSE

This is another reason why I am looking at Bentayga.
If it is all through the screen you have to be able to customise and have several things at once, I dont want to loose the sat nav so I can change the vents.
Everything that is bellow the dash should be doable by muscle memory, that cant be done with multiple pages.
Voice control should never give you select a line. letters not necessarily in the right order

They’ve also removed all the controls from next to the gear selector some of which are useful to have at hand. Definitely a downgrade just to make savings on an already expensive vehicle. MY23 D350 HSE

I sat in a MY24 at the dealer last week. The panel looks fine.

It’s obviously just a cost saving measure and clearly not a step in the right direction. Although I would say that the buttons in between the temperature dials are particularly nasty on the MY23 and should never have been put in a car at this price point in the first place. Thankfully I hardly use them, so whether they are on the screen or not makes no difference to me.

I reckon there will be a larger screen (a la Tesla) incoming when the BEV is launched which will cover that panel area to some degree.

The changes are certainly not a reason to consider a Bentayga in my view. I also looked at one of these last week while one of my other cars was in service. I really can’t see any reason for choosing one over an L460. To my eyes it’s just a mess inside and out and as for infotainment, the VAG derived offering is behind the competition.

… but at least starting with ATB there are some inlaid work available (for free) … looks much better then.

I find the ability to switch on the heated screens and aircon max etc. on the front panel quite useful rather than nasty. Having to delve into a screen and various menus to do the same while driving is a major step backwards.

But maybe that’s because I’ve been able to access these same controls manually on several L322 and L405 models for more than a decade that I feel the changes are step backwards and purely a cost saving decision by LR who really don’t care about customer opinion until it hurts them financially, which the current insurance issue is about to. MY23 D350 HSE

I believe the screen size is going to be significantly increased in an upcoming update which means the climate control buttons would be obscured.

I didn’t mean that having the buttons there was nasty. I would rather have them than not even though I rarely use them. It’s the action of them I was referring to. They feel very low quality and often require more than one press to make them work. The whole panel also flexes when you press it. Just a really cheap and nasty interface similar to the steering wheel buttons. Pre facelift L405s were much nicer.

Only LR could remove all the control buttons before installing the larger screen! MY23 D350 HSE

I wonder if Land Rover have gone to the trouble and expense of building a new wiring loom or… the plugs behind the blanking plate and the part could be sourced and plugged in. MY23 PHEV HSE

Seeing things like this make me feel ever so satisfied with my very early L460.

It’s one of the reasons I’m on the fence about buying another to replace my rejected one. First world problems I know but I really prefer buttons for HVAC controls. I’ve just bought a brand new cancelled order defender until I decide what to do I love all the buttons Laughing MY23 PHEV HSE

I spent 12 hours in mine yesterday driving from Somerset to Champagne via Paris.
It is a sublime distance eater.
If they are going to put everything on one screen they have to be able to sectionalise it so that you can go in to one part whilst keeping the other visible, my wife decided to change the vent flow just as we came to an interchange and the sat nav disappeared.
It also has to be lightning fast and personally configurable.
My wife always leaves the radio on, I like to be able to get in and just press the off button, if I have to start the car, wait whilst it wakes up and then scroll through 4 pages just to turn off some mindless bimbo Twisted Evil
So many unforeseen consequences that just make people think they have lost their way and turn to the competition. letters not necessarily in the right order
