I've done well over 100K miles using an "old" JLR adaptive cruise regularly and never had a scary moment - I don't find the new systems on (forgive the snobbery Very Happy ) "lesser" cars to be any better.
I'm sure that it has no real effect on consumption either as it stops you gradually getting faster accidently so it balances out the possible less economic driving style.
I'm a big fan of adaptive cruise control but not on Bikes, that's just frightening Shocked
