tap it out with a big hammer - some owners jamm a sliver of wood in the socket to stop rattles - thats why some are seized in. I shove a business card between the receiver and square section to stop the rattle. If you have experienced the rattkle you will know what I mean, it drives you slowly insane especially with a twin axle trailer due to axle tramp

still won't budge, I've left it soaking up some more WD 40 will try again next week. Got to go get beer for football tonight  Geoff

I don't tow stuff so will be happy to get it off and keep it off unless I have my bike rack on (home made - bolts to the plate) as the drop plate reduces the ground clearance at the back and doesn't look all that good either. thing! Geoff

I spent yesterday removing the rear bumper anfd towbar and trying to remove the farmers hitch but without success. Today I took the assembly to my local garage where they placed it on a 20 tonne hydraulic press and applied heat with an oxyacetylene torch, it took almost 90 minutes of heating and pressing before the hitch eventually gave and came out of the slot. It's obviously never been off since the day it was fitted and now won't be going on unless I need to tow the trailer.
