NSF wheel bearing

So guys I’ve just been told that my wheel bearing needs replacing, the Indy specialist has given me a price. Before I spend my hard earned money on the RR is this a realistic job I can do on the drive elct?
I have a descent tool kit etc, no air tools though. I’ve been told it’s a press fit bearing and I’ve no hydraulic press either.

You will need a press to remove and refit the bearing into the hub.

Removing the hub from the car can be an uttery ******* of a job as the bolts that hold the strut to the hub seize. Additionally, removing the driveshaft from the hub can also be a Censored of a job.

In a nutshell, it’s not a job I’d even entertain doing on a driveway without an armoury of tools waiting for me once the hub was removed.

Maybe get another quote or two from some other independents in the area?? e.g. Henshall Engineering Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Although I have done this job on my driveway, I will admit that it was a pain to do, especially as I did not own a hydraulic press at the time. This is not a job for the faint hearted as there were several Censored Banging Head moments during said task.

Being a masochistic, very experienced marine engineer with a degree in OCD and a huge armoury of tools did reduce the level of pain Whistle Rolling with laughter

PS - I have since bought a 12.5 ton hydraulic press. Just a word of warning, if, like me, you suffer from that old 'Ahhhh Shinnneyyyyy' syndrome, DO NOT visit your local machine mart showroom, it is an expensive addiction without a known cure Big Cry

On a more serious note, looking at the age of your car, mine is a 2006, the deeper I got into the job, the more faults I found, and had to order more parts in a hurry, so if you do it yourself be prepared to have the car out of action for longer than intended. My car ended up on axle stands for a almost a week as I then had to wait for parts delivery etc

There is also a fair chance the wheel speed sensor will have to be replaced, go genuine on that, aftermarket seem a bit hit and miss.
As mentioned before a press and a hub puller are essential.

I bought a wheel speed sensor from Delphi with a green plug, it fit perfectly but was showing the wheel speed 2x higher than it was. It confused the whole ABS system. The plug on the car side was blue so I then bought a Bosch sensor with a blue plug and everything worked fine again.
