I have just purchased my 2006 L322 ,but has come with no owners handbook, The question I have is that when the headlights are on and I select reverse they appear you go onto main beam until I select either Park/Drive /neutral is this normal or have I a problem with part of the electrics ?

Definitely not normal or a least my don’t do that and never have.

Is it the main beam or the fog lights which come on?

Has it been like it since you've owned the car? I wonder if someone has fiddled with the front fogs and wired them to come on in reverse as parking lights, to mimic what modern cars do?

Otherwise, it's very odd. Having checked the electrical diagrams, I can't see any multiplugs carrying the high beam and reverse signals which may have been damaged or corroded.

It could point to the LCM. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I added an LED flood reversing light (via a relay) on my 2003. If my headlights are on, selecting reverse turns on the main beam.
