Just out of interest are you tailpipes sooted up, should be spotless inside if the dpf is operating correctly?

Not really, they look as I would expect them to really. I'm frustrated with the interval thing, we're in the middle of a holiday in Italy and the the interval said just under 5k to the next service but 1300 odd miles later down autoroutes and autostradas at steady speeds of 80mph, I now need a 'service soon.'

Oddly, the only time mine works as intended is when we're driving to the southern French Alps, then the dpf regens at around 650+ miles and the service interval goes up. Once back in blighty its down to 150 miles between regens wherever and however I drive and the service interval plummets. Still trying to work out why!!

I had my oil cooler replaced a few weeks ago along with an oil change.

I've replaced the entire Egr assembly including the cooler, done a high pressure smoke test with no leaks on the intake plenum or throttle body etc. No fault codes at all and also updated the IP cluster firmware that raises the oil dilution threshold from 6% to 7% and still in the UK with motorway journeys I'm getting ridiculous service intervals.

I'm fundamentally lazy so unable to attach a gadget to monitor intervals etc and besides, doubtful with my lousy technical knowledge that I could do anything about it anyway. I know others have managed it but I'm not sure what advantage of knowing about regens would give you anyway?

I manage to avoid failed regens 99% of the time, my problem is the interval between regens is painfully low, hence oil dilution due to many successful regens ultimately bringing down my service interval. As mentioned driving in France 650+ mile intervals, here 150-190 and then a regen. Would love to know why!! L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division. |

Try this -Service reset Its easy to change the oil, get a vacuum pump and do a search on here on how to do it. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

Thanks, much appreciated. Mine is one of those 'in-betweeners' with the updated 2017 ICP prior to the 2018 facelift so hopefully that process will still work. 2017 Vogue SE

To comment on something @4RRS said. I find when I visit the UK. The car wants to regen more often.

I've filled up in France before crossing and just the same, I do however think it's to do with lower cruising speeds and hence lower heat reaching the DPF. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division. |

I am in the UK in October. I will look at my average speeds and the temps. Then report back. I have the 48-month service the week before the trip.
