i agree with AF..

after credit card fees and postage its not worth doing the deal for such a small amount..

many other companys and shops have the same restrictions.. ... - .- -.

There are many ways these company make money postage is charged at a standard rate that covers and makes them money they make money on the parts that they supply if they are that good why is a minimum spend not pointed out as you start looking in today's climate any sale is a bonus
And if every body just pays we will be at a larger minimum spend
And the cycle just goes around until we say enough is enough

I actually had the same problem with AF, I recognise their problem, next time I try I will make sure I need plenty of stuff. As they charge for postage I'm not that sympathetic though obviously postage may well be free if you buy enough. The credit card thing is a bit of a conundrum how else would you do business online? Geoff

Labelling AF as 'tat' ? Shocked
I've had some of the best service from a company ever when dealing with AF and completely understand why they have a minimum spend. Most companies do it and have done it for years. By all means vote with your mouse clicks but to label them 'tat' is very harsh.... Gavin

To call them tat was a little harsh agreed
But when you go thru all the terms and conditions and nowhere does it mention minimum spend does seem very poor
Also checking prices they are above what most companies are charging
And check fuel filter for 4.4 tdv8 its a britpart labelled but oem for american market seems to good to be true poor yanks 🤨

To be honest if you have a main dealer near its better just to walk in and get the bits you need they are not any more expensive either in my findings. overfinch modified

Get in touch with Rob at Duckworth Parts.

When rebuilding my 4.2 last year and whilst doing this 5.0, I've had nothing but fantastic service from him.

He's the first person I contact for parts these days. I've had invoices from a couple of quid to a couple of grand and never had an issue.

Pay over the phone and parts arrive quickly. For stock items it's next day, for non stock items it's 2 days.

Companies have many different ways of doing business.

I very much doubt if AF make any money out of a £10 order when all the costs are taken into account.
It's a free market both ways - companies choose their terms & customers are free to choose who they buy from.

Personally, I operate a small mail order business (selling model railways & associated stuff like scenery/road vehicles). No minimum order + £3.50 standard postage (RM 48H Tracked) - spend £25 + & no charge for postage as I can absorb that.
If anyone buys something that can go letter post then I refund the difference via PayPal.

There is no such thing as "free shipping/postage" - you will be paying for it somewhere.

I’m not complaining about companies setting minimum spend requirements but it caught me out, only when I got to try and checkout did it say my £9.25 wasn’t enough. It may well have been stated elsewhere on the site and I missed it, I actually got the filter from Halfords same price ( same filter actually) ordered online and picked it up this morning from my local store. Geoff

I've just realised simplest fix for me is to buy two oil filters, one goes into stock! Do we get any sort of deal from AF, I'll give them a ring in the morning. Geoff

Yep, use the discount code AF4LRP.

It worked fine for me on a propshaft at £450 but didn’t work on a CV boot at around 65 quid.

Just messing on internet (eBay) before turning in for the night and ordered one for £11.49 delivered, Halfords as you might expect, or not, supplied me with the wrong one so will have to take it back. Geoff

I just email Rob at Duckworth Land Rover and it arrives at the house. Next day if they have it in stock, the day after if they don’t. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

I understand the pain from both sides on this score, you have to put yourself in the other guys’ shoes.
We have come to expect so much from the internet and mail order that we are totally spoiled these days.
What if you had to do it the old way, ring the store order the item, then drive to town in busy traffic, try to find somwhere to park, pay for parking, then go to the cash machine, so you can pay cash on collection, then drive home? Who would prefer that? The processing costs for a tiny order are the same as a large order of say £1000, usually about £50 in administration/ order processing/packing costs these days. Orders of £25 or less must be an irritation to many companies, and I suppose it doesn’t get interesting until the £100/order limit is reached by the time you have to pay staff wages, business rates and premises rental, etc.
I am not in such a business myself, but I really can’t understand how they can make small orders pay, it must be a total frustration to them at times. Banging Head “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
