Hi all,

My 2017 L405 RR/V had a full service in April at 41,000 miles, but this week I have a service requirement notice on start-up, as well as a notice to say that the Diesel fluid additive (Ad-Blu) has only 1500 miles left.
My local independent LR specialist has looked at the readings and a NOX sensor is the problem. He says that as the problem continues, it will eventually shut down the car and stop it being started.
He suggests deleting the EGR software system as an answer to this, as the cost of replacing and re-calibrating the sensor to the car will be well over £1200.

I'm not sure about this at all and wondered if anyone here can offer some advice ?

You could always try cleaning the sensor as they can get sooted up.

Get a new 'specialist' because the one you're using has no clue. The downstream NOx sensor is post DPF so if that is sooted up then you have bigger problems. The EGR system will not cause SCR issues, the two systems work separately and target different emissions.
Without seeing the data I can't comment on the diagnosis. NOx sensors are prone to failure across all marques, the cost to replace & reset the drift values seems excessive to me. Again, a second opinion may reduce your costs.

If the Adblu low message is on the dash, it will store various NOX codes

With a faulty NOX sensor, id expect the EML to be on dash, but you don't mention this

As for the service warning, there is a known issue where the light doesn't reset correctly, and needs an IPC + PCM software update (assuming the garage didn't just forget to reset the light)
